Weird draft year for the Ducks, usually staying away from Euros and QMJHL players, that was pretty much what they didnt do this year.
Their first pick was from the Q and he didnt really put up impressive numbers in the Q. Their last pick Morrison also from the Q, will turn 20 in July and is elgible to play one more year in the Q, however, he could sign a Pro contract in play in Augusta or Portland.
2 Euro goalies were drafted, one already 20, the other soon, I highly doubt they either of them will come over this year or even next year.
Honestly dont know what to say about the draft. Kampfer isnt too big and is probably very far away from Portland.
I am interested to see how their 4th rounder Justin Vaive turns out, he is already 6'4 210.

Same here, along with Tangradi...
I dunno though about the draft... Burke went on and on about not drafting for need, but going after the best available player... I'm thinking he was looking at some needs, mainly forwards... He only took one defenseman and that is a guy who is only 5'11" and played in the WCHA, hardly a proving ground for players looking to become pro hockey defensemen...
Better hope he has an ace up his sleeve about defensemen, because after the Vancouver Giants duo that are joining the Ducks this upcoming season we do not really have any defensemen prospects worth noting...

I think it's odd that Morrison was picked that far down in the draft. His stats are very good. Especially compared to some other picks.
I'd like to see him in P-Town.

You can never trust statistics from the Q, or any other junior league for that matter. The things is, when you're 19 or 20 years old, you're supposed to be dominating the league like that. It's similar to high school hockey. When you're a senior, you're expected to carry the load playing against underclassman. As a 20-year-old playing against 17 & 18 year olds, you're already bigger and stronger than those kids, and should put up big stats.
Take Mike Wall for example. Enough said.

Exactly, the Q is definitely the league where that applies the most. Guys out of the OHL who put up mad numbers tend to be the better players in pro hockey. Typically the QMJHL is where the most busts or non drafted players come from. Rarely do Dman ever get drafted in the Q.
The WHL is a mystery for the most part, you kinda gotta take a chance on the players, it is not high scoring, most of the quality goalies do actually come from that league. Most recent, Calder Cup MVP; Carey Price.
