Sutherby for a pick

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired center Brian Sutherby from the Washington Capitals in exchange for the club’s second round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Sutherby, 25 (3/1/82), has appeared in five contests this season for Washington, earning 1-0=1 point with seven penalty minutes (PIM). The Edmonton, Alberta native has played in 259 career NHL contests over six seasons with Washington, collecting 26-35=61 points with 281 PIM. Sutherby played in a career-high 76 games with the Capitals in 2005-06, while also establishing career-highs in goals, assists and points (14-16=30). The 6-3, 215-pound center also appeared in five Stanley Cup Playoff contests with Washington in 2002-03, going scoreless with 10 PIM.

Nice. I like Sutherby. He'll add a little punch to our offense if he's sent to Portland...and 30 points in the NHL is not something to be ashamed of. Honestly, 30 points is looked at as below average, but 30 points isn't bad. It's a point every 8 periods...that's solid.

I'm sure that this past week have just been the beginning of what's to come. Anaheim is dying for offense, so they'll probably be putting more deals together soon. Could work out in our favor once Bertuzzi is healthy.

It should work out in our favor for the time being. However, I have this feeling that King is going to be dealt at some point this season for something, a team in the NHL that just needs someone could go after a cheap King.
