Has anyone ever entertained this idea?
I'm checking out a site now and was wondering what the general attitude was to soccer-style scarfs...

www.logosportswear.com/fleecestadiumblanketscarves.phpIf you go to the fleece scarf you get to make as few as you want... The problem is that you are going to pay a lot unless you have at least 6 scarves... If you want 12 of them it'll run you around $220... The problem with the fleece scarf is that you get to only choose the color of the scarf, and your options are at each end of it... You can choose to have lettering and then the logo... Of course the problem comes in when the logo gets transfered from graphics to embroidery... Once I get the logo design design I can save a capture of what the end would graphically look like, I'll post it here...

www.sportsscarf.comThis website is unarguably the best one to go to for a supporter scarf... Unfortunately it is almost the most expensive and requires from what I've seen the largest minimum order... But this website also makes supporter scarves for a lot of professional and college teams... Again, out of our realm since I doubt we could get together 150 people who would want to buy this...

www.wildemasche.comProbably the best website I've seen so far... You can choose your color or design, add lettering the length of the scarf along with lettering on the edges... There are variations for fonts as well as italics and bold... You can supposedly use your own design, but for now I'm sticking with the options and changing them around... Two downsides... The company is based out of Germany... The other side is that you have no logo viewing portion... You basically submit your scarf, submit your logo, and provide instruction on how you would like it designed... The website also says that the front and back can be different, but again, no mentioned if it's extra... I have put down Euro's and the current exchange rate for dollars... 10 pieces - 11 Euro's ($15.67) 20 pieces - 7.70 Euro's ($10.97) 30 pieces - 6.30 Euro's ($8.97) Shame I haven't found a U.S.-based company that can do this... But because of these prices I'm going to email them and ask them what charges there are on U.S.-bound shipments and if there are any additional costs...

I am willing to go ahead with the Wildmasche website if others are... I think the price is very reasonable and the options are as good as they can get... I'd like to aim for the 20-piece mark, which would put the cost at $11 for one... But, I also want a little feedback on the design... If anyone wants one, please check out the above website and the designs and let me know your thoughts... This is the editable parts... Design - Limited to templates but the color can be adjusted. If requested each side can have different colors too (like going red/black on one side and black/red on the other etc.). Length - You can use a word that runs the length of the scarf. Edge - You can choose 3 rows of wording on the sides... If I make the request each side can be something different. Font - Different fonts and what-have-you... Quote - It really depends on amount of the order... I submitted an email on Saturday regarding shipping costs and they responded by telling me that before they toss numbers out they would want to see the design and the number of scarf's in the request... Again, what is my level of support here...

I like your first design with the red and black. I'm not sure what you should put on the ends

To be honest with you Drew, I am not too sure how much people would be into these. Though I think they look cool and are a great new idea. However I mean, if somehow you could convince a fair number on AHL fans, and if you brought it up to Amy Lavoie, maybe something could be worked out, but as far as on here, not too sure.

I appreciate the feedback Mike...
I did send an email last week to Amy... She said the price (both to make and then to sell) would not make it feasible to sell... But then she went on to tell me how they were selling flags... Not that I don't agree with her logic, lets just say I felt the flag reference was a cheesy sales pitch...
I have brought this up on the AHLFans.net board and there is a general level of interest... I could probable get at least a dozen additional buyers at the game through some salesmanship, so I don't think this idea will be without buyers...
Right now I am merely looking for questions, comments, concerns, and potential ideas...
But I really do appreciate your creative concern Mike!

Get used to the Pirates focusing on cheap stuff to make so they can make a profit. I cant really disagree with it though, because in their best interests its the safe way.

At this Friday's game I'm going to talk with Brian Williams and run this idea by him...
I'd like to use the logo on the scarf, but I have a feeling a per-piece charge would be asked in order to use the logo... My decision to go with a logo will depend on any applicable costs, because of course that will be passed on to the buyer...
I think the general attitude is that for a one-of-a-kind piece like this people would be willing to charge about $15, but not a whole lot more...

The Dream scarf! The lettering will read PORTLAND PIRATES or SALTY PETE'S CREW... Ahhhh to dream about wearing this to a game!

Well, today is the day that I ask for a few minutes of Brian William's time and see the direction the scarf will take me!
